RiL030 Groove Patrol - Lost in The Groove (Strictly Rhythm)

House music has been full of records created by anonymous producers with multiple pseudonyms. At the time I was just happy to play the weeks best tracks bought from the record store and didn't look too closely at the small print of the labels.  I also didn't have the internet or resource of Discogs to look into their history in depth. When I started RiL for this blog, I found that uncovering stories behind some of these faceless records to be one of the most satisfying and interesting by-products of the task. And so it was that after so many years on my shelves I finally researched Groove Patrol and found out that the guys behind it were Doug Smith and Richard Payton also known as 95 North, the far more prolific alias for their work.  95 North featured on heavy rotation at back to basics on numerous records but it was 'Who's Who' that became a bona fide classic and will be featured on the next installment of my basics mixes looking at The Mint Club years. They were also the guys behind another gem on Strictly Rhythm 'Scram'.  It was good to discover that the Groove Patrol kept going and forged a successful recording partnership many of the producers fall by the wayside and drift away from music. Something that is happening at an ever increasing pace as the industry has become an even tougher place to survive.  My rather crackly copy of Groove Patrol enters the mix at 10.45 on The Pleasure Rooms Years...
