Ralph Lawson Live at Unlock 11 // Buenos Aires

It was a real honour to be invited back to play for the second year in a row for Unlock in Buenos Aires. The parties at The Hipodromo de Palermo just keep getting better and better. This time the production and sound were next level.
There is one thing I need to clear up about this session. At first I experienced a significant delay between the system and the monitors which made it nearly impossible to sync the beats in time. Everyone was helpful and we worked on the fix but it meant that during the first 30 minutes I had to basically throw away the headphones and just try to mix by ear. This is a tricky skill but if you keep cool you can adjust the timing of the tracks until the mix is working but it means you have some mess at the bottom of the mix. I did manage to keep the flow going but as everyone should know by now I am a mix perfectionist so I have re-recorded the start of the session in the studio so you can hear it as it should have been. We fixed the problem and the rest of the session is 100% live from the night. The most important thing is the show must go on and I feel we managed to make a great party, sometimes you just have to deal as best you can with live situations and problems. We sincerely hope this issue didn’t effect your enjoyment of an amazing evening too much.

Fue un verdadero honor que me inviten por segundo año consecutivo a Unlock en Buenos Aires. Las fiestas en el Hipódromo de Palermo se vienen poniendo cada vez mejor. Esta vez, la producción y el sistema de sonido fueron de otro nivel.
Hay algo que necesito aclarar acerca de esta sesión: al comienzo experimenté un delay importante entre el sistema principal y los monitores, lo que hacía casi imposible mezclar y sincronizar los beats a tempo. Todos fueron muy solidarios conmigo y finalmente pudimos resolver el problema pero lamentablemente los primeros 30 minutos tuve que, básicamente, tirar los auriculares y mezclar a oído. Una habilidad un poco difícil ya que vas ajustando el timing de los tracks al aire hasta que el mix está ok, aunque con algunas desprolijidades al principio de cada mezcla.
Si bien me las arreglé para mantener la onda, muchos saben que soy un perfeccionista de las mezclas así que volví a grabar el principio del set en mi estudio para que lo puedan escuchar como corresponde. Solucionamos el problema y el resto de la sesión es 100% en vivo de esa noche.
Lo más importante de todo es que el show debe continuar y siento que nos las arreglamos para hacer una fiesta impresionante más allá de que a veces hay que lidiar con situaciones propias del vivo. Espero que este problema no les haya afectado demasiado y que hayan disfrutado de esa noche increíble!
